Everyone is after me for opinions and comments but how can I do that when I have no idea what the show is about other than what the Beeb's Press Office have issued.
Like everyone else I wait with baited breath to see who the three magicians are going to be and who is going to be the presenter.
Whoever does it, it ain't going to be easy and I wish them the best of luck. I do hope, sincerely, that the producers have really done their research into this peculiar form of entertainment and realise that the tricks themselves don't matter at all. The most important part of a magic act is the person presenting the magic. Please keep it baffling and entertaining.
Speaking of baffling, that is the root of magic. It has to be baffling. Part of the press release says "In addition, viewers at home will be able to both enjoy and learn interactively via a series of exclusive tricks and step-by-step guides to give budding magicians an introduction to the art."
This bit, I admit, does bother me because if you learn magic from a public broadcast other people, like your friends, will also be watching and learning so WHO are you going to baffle. Also I fear that the emphasis will be on the 'secret' of the tricks and not on the real secrets of magic, which are personality, presentation and KEEPING SECRETS!
Fingers crossed for the show. If it's good, it's good for all of us.

It's good news on one hand.but It would be nice to see magicians doing magic without the celeb"Partners" because having that extra person will effect the performers presentation. it must slow them down.Time will tell i suppose.. though i share your views on the teach a trick element.
Oh my heavens above. Showing someone learn magic is fun, I am very fond of Justin Collings 'Convention Crasher' where he learns some rather good magic in 4 weeks. Here at least they got it right I feel, they talked about performances and about researching what you can and can't do. HOWEVER they did not reveal the method to any of the effects. IF the BBC follow this formula then it could be an entertaining show but I fear they will give in to the temptation of revealing the method and thus spoil a lot of peoples fun and livelihoods.

I've just gotten tickets to watch this show being filmed So come the 9th of December I'll actually be able to say for sure if it's just going to reveal EVERYTHING or if it will manage to engage the audience without revealing methods.
